The Eurostars Auriense (Ourense) presents, through to 20 April, a display of twenty-seven works by Luis Romero (Vigo, 1959). This artist commenced his artistic career in the Vigo Art School in 1973, continuing in Madrid in 2002 and Betanzos in 2003. Romero defines his paintings as realistic, indeed, closer to hyper-realism, using techniques such as oils, water-colour and charcoal. One of his central themes is the sea.

Romero’s first individual exhibition took place in the Virgen del Rocio High School in Vigo in 1975. Between 1984 and 1986, he displayed his paintings in the Sala Caixa Vigo showroom in Villagarcía de Arousa, in the Modus Vivendi showroom in Santiago de Compostela and then, in a leap to Latin America, in the Bocetos Gallery in Caracas, Venezuela. From 2003 to 2005, his works have been exhibited in the Gran Hotel Lugo, the ARGA Gallery in Santiago de Compostela and the Compostela Spa in Brión (Corunna). Among his collective exhibitions, the second edition of the ACEA Plastic Arts Show in Barcelona and the Llahi Gallery in Andorra, between 1995 and 1998, are noteworthy, as is the display held in the Sanxenxo Marina, the “Volvo Ocean Race”, in October 2005.
