Eurostars Hotels launches its sixth Travel Story Prize
28/04/2010 In line with its steadfast commitment to forge ties with the world of
culture, the Grupo Hotusa is launching the sixth edition of its
Eurostars Hotels Travel Story Prize. This competition, organised in
conjunction with the University of Barcelona and RBA Libros S.A, will
award a single 18,000 euro prize to the narrative that the jury deems is
the best story or set of stories submitted to the competition.
With
a length of at least 80 and at most 150 doubled-spaced, single-sided
pages, the originals must be written in Spanish and can be either a
single story or up to three independent stories, as long as together
they do not exceed the maximum length. Likewise, the sine qua non
condition of the stories submitted is that they must be original and
unpublished, and that they have not been submitted to any other prize.
Candidates
must submit five bound copies of their story to the Unidad de
Comunicación de la Universitat de Barcelona (Gran Vía de les Corts
Catalanes, 585. 08007. Barcelona). The deadline for submission is the
31st of May 2010. A winner of the competition must be declared, and
stories sent by email will not be accepted.
The jury appointed to
award the prize will include a representative of the University of
Barcelona, a representative of RBA Libros S.A., a representative of
Grupo Hotusa, two acclaimed writers and one secretary with voice but no
vote. Jury members in previous editions of the prize included writers
Alfredo Conde, Ángela Vallvey (2007 and 2008), Anna María Moix and
Eduardo Mendicutti (2006), and journalists Ángela Rodicio and Jon
Sistiaga (2005).
One of the major attractions of this prize is
the fact that the winning story is distributed free of charge in more
than 4,000 rooms in the 52 hotels in the Eurostars Hotels chain in
Spain, several other European countries and Latin America. Right now,
the guests of the Eurostars Hotels chain, which belongs to the Grupo
Hotusa, may peruse Pedro Páramo ya no vive aquí (Pedro Páramo No Longer
Lives Here), the book by Paco Nadal that won last year’s edition, a
total of 10,000 copies of which have been published. In each edition,
the winning story is also published in an edition to be sold in
bookshops run by RBA Libros.

the 6th Eurostars Hotels Travel Story Prize (attached) may be viewed on
